G3 Skins and Bindings | Product Overview

Leading the way in performance backcountry gear, G3’s innovative skins and bindings provide simple, easy to use features that are tailored for any backcountry user. From unique tail clips for splitboardsto the Ripstrip to bail you out of bad days to simple, dependable bindings that are easy to use in any condition. G3’s focus on performance and solving backcountry problems has led to them being a staple at trailheads across the globe.

SKINS

G3 skins come two main styles for both skis and splitboards. For skis, the two main constructions are Alpinist+ and Minimist, while splitboards get Splitboard+ and Splitboard LT. Both ‘+’ skins are full-featured options, while the Minimist and LT are fast & light options for those who like to keep weight at a minimum, without losing performance.

There are 3 plush options available across the skin lineup: Universal, Grip, and Glide. Universal comes correct and is built for any location and all conditions, utilizing a nylon plush that’s versatile and durable. Grip construction is built for steep ascents and icy skin tracks, similar to what you might find during spring volcano season. Grip skins also utilize a nylon plush, just one with even more traction than the Universal plush. The Glide construction is a 65/35 mohair to nylon mix that is designed for cold and dry conditions while still providing exceptional durability and waterproofing.

Every G3 skin uses PFC-free DWR coatings and includes a removable Ripstrip, which protects a section of glue in the middle of the skin to serve as a backup in worst-case scenarios. They also utilize self-adjusting hands at the tip of the skin which both self-center for fast transitions and accommodate less-traditional tip shapes better than traditional wire loop attachments.

Alpinist+

Built on the notion that most grip from a skin comes just underneath the binding, the Alpinist+ removes unnecessary skin material from the tip and tail to shave weight. Removing the skin material in the tip allowed the engineers at G3 to add an extended TPU section at the tip of the skin to prevent snow creep and extend the life of the glue. The Alpinist+ skins are available in 4 lengths and 4 widths to suit almost any ski and Universal, Grip, and Glide constructions to suit any condition or objective.

Minimist

Designed to provide uncompromising performance with minimal weight, the Minimist skins are ideal for hut trips, extended missions, or anyone who prefers to keep their skins in their jacket. By using skin material for the tip instead of TPU like the Alpinist+, the Minimist skins are even lighter and roll up exceptionally small. Despite their low weight, the Minimist skins are still very torsionally stiff to prevent snow creep. The Minimist skins are available in 4 lengths and 4 widths in the Universal construction and 3 widths in the Glide construction.

Splitboard+

A full-featured splitboard skin, Splitboard+ skins are designed to be reliable, effective, and easy to use. Asymmetrical tips and a pre-cut straight edge make setup easy, while an innovative camming tail connector keep transitions quick in the backcountry. The Splitboard+ skins also have a large overlap between their two lengths, making it easy to find the right length and fit for your setup. Splitboard+ skins are available in two lengths and 140mm width, with Universal and Grip constructions.

Splitboard LT

Designed for splitboarders who need to save weight, the Spliboard LT skins use a thinner, lighter base material that doesn’t sacrifice durability for grams. It features the same pre-cut straight edge as well as the asymmetric tip connectors and camming tail connector. The Splitboard LT skins are designed for speed and as such are only offered in Universal and Glide constructions, with two overlapping sizes and 140mm width.
